Troubleshoot Google Search Console
Use this guide if Google Search Console won't connect, the expected property is missing, Rankvia is using the wrong property, search data isn't appearing, or your Content Calendar isn't behaving as expected after connection.
Start with the symptom you're seeing below.
Check these first
- 1. Confirm the Rankvia website.Make sure you're working with the website you intend to connect.
- 2. Confirm the Google account. The authorized Google account must have access to the Search Console property you need.
- 3. Confirm the property. The selected property should correspond to the Rankvia website.
- 4. Check the integration status. Go to Settings → Integrations → Search data.
- 5. Retry the current action once before reconnecting. Use the visible retry or refresh action when Rankvia provides one.
Search Console won't connect
You select Connect, but Google Search Console never reaches a connected state.
Check that you used the intended Google account, it can access the property, you completed Google authorization, and you returned to Rankvia.
- Go back to Settings → Integrations.
- Start the Search Console connection again.
- Choose the intended Google account and complete authorization.
- Select the property for the current Rankvia website, then confirm it.
Google authorization fails
Authorization may have been cancelled, completed with the wrong Google account, or interrupted before Rankvia could continue.
- Start the connection again from Settings → Integrations.
- Choose the Google account that has property access.
- Complete Google's authorization flow fully, then return to Rankvia.
- If Google or the connection appears temporarily unavailable, wait and try the same action again.
Rankvia returns from Google but still shows disconnected
Completing Google's authorization does not necessarily mean Rankvia has completed the final website/property connection. Rankvia still needs to confirm the property for the website you're managing.
- Confirm you returned to the same Rankvia website.
- Select and confirm the intended property if Rankvia asks you to.
- Check for any visible connection message in Settings → Integrations → Search data.
- Confirm the card shows Connected after property confirmation.
The property I need is missing
Rankvia can only show Search Console properties available to the Google account you authorized.
- Confirm you authorized the correct Google account.
- Confirm that account has access to the property.
- Open Google Search Console with the same account and confirm the property appears there.
- Confirm the property has been verified in Google before reconnecting.
Rankvia cannot create or verify a missing Search Console property for you.
The wrong property is connected
Search Console evidence should come from the property associated with the Rankvia website you're managing.
- Go to Settings → Integrations.
- Disconnect the current Search Console connection.
- Connect Search Console using the intended Google account if needed.
- Select the correct property and confirm it.
Do not rely on Search Console planning evidence if you know the connected property belongs to another website.
The Search Console property does not match the Rankvia website
Choose the Search Console property that represents the actual website being managed in Rankvia. URL-prefix properties can differ by protocol, host, and path; a root domain, subdomain, or custom domain may therefore be a different property.
Rankvia can recommend an apparent match, but it asks you to confirm it. If it says No matching Google Search Console property found, choose another available property manually, connect another Google account, or add the website to Google Search Console first.
Search Console is connected but no data appears
A valid connection can still be syncing, the selected property can have little usable Search Console evidence, or the relevant date range may have little data.
- Check that Settings → Integrations shows Connected and the expected property.
- Confirm the property has data in Google Search Console itself.
- If Rankvia shows Syncing, wait for the current sync to complete.
- Use Refresh Search Console data from the Content Calendar when it is available.
Rankvia does not promise immediate data availability after a connection or a Google-side change.
Search Console data looks outdated
Rankvia refreshes Search Console data through its supported sync workflow, so Rankvia may not update immediately after Search Console changes.
Use Refresh Search Console data in the Content Calendar if it is available. If Rankvia says the data was updated recently, wait before trying again. Do not disconnect and reconnect Search Console only because data has not refreshed immediately.
Search Console data could not be refreshed
When Settings shows Sync failed or Last sync failed. Your connection is still active., the connection may still be valid.
- Use Refresh Search Console data once if it is available.
- Wait and try again if the issue appears temporary.
- Reconnect only if Rankvia shows Needs reconnect or the failure continues.
My existing Content Calendar did not change
Connecting Search Console does not silently rebuild an existing Content Calendar. The connection and a Calendar rebuild are separate choices.
When Rankvia asks Use Search Console for this calendar?, choose Regenerate calendar to rebuild recommendations with Search Console data, or Keep current calendar to use the data for future recommendations only.
Learn how Search Console affects an existing Content CalendarI want to rebuild the Content Calendar with Search Console
From the Search Console decision screen, choose Regenerate calendar. Rankvia starts a fresh planning build with the connected property's Search Console evidence.
During the process, Rankvia may show Starting regeneration... or Rebuilding your Content Calendar. The rebuilt calendar is available when the build completes.
Read the Content Calendar behaviorContent Calendar regeneration appears stuck
A calendar regeneration can be in progress already. Avoid starting multiple rebuilds for the same calendar.
- Revisit the current Content Calendar progress state.
- If Rankvia displays Retry rebuild or Retry regeneration after an error, use that action once.
- If the page continues to show the same failed or in-progress state, contact support with the details below.
The rebuilt Content Calendar seems to ignore GSC
Search Console is one evidence source. Rankvia still combines it with the Business Profile, existing website pages, broader search research, and its planning logic.
Not every Content Calendar topic has to correspond directly to an existing Search Console query. Check the selected property, confirm it has relevant data, and make sure the rebuild completed successfully. Existing-page evidence can also lead Rankvia to recommend improving a page rather than creating another one.
Disconnecting Search Console
Disconnecting stops Rankvia from refreshing data through that connection. It does not delete your existing Rankvia content or planning automatically. Go to Settings → Integrations → Search data and use Disconnect when you intentionally want to remove the connection.
Reconnect Search Console
Reconnect when Rankvia shows Needs reconnect, you intentionally disconnected the integration, or authorization is no longer valid.
- Go to Settings → Integrations → Search data.
- Select Reconnect Google Search Console.
- Choose the intended Google account.
- Select and confirm the property for the current Rankvia website.
- Verify the card returns to Connected.
Use a different Google account
Reconnect Search Console using the Google account that has access to the property you want to use for this Rankvia website. Then select and confirm the intended property.
Use a different Search Console property
Disconnect and reconnect Search Console, then select the new property during property confirmation. Changing the property changes the first-party Search Console evidence Rankvia receives for that website, so confirm it carefully before rebuilding planning.
When to reconnect - and when not to
Reconnect when
- Authorization is invalid.
- The wrong Google account or property was connected.
- The integration was intentionally disconnected.
Don't reconnect just because
- Data has not refreshed immediately.
- A single refresh failed.
- Your existing Calendar did not change.
- A Calendar regeneration is still running.
Still not working?
Contact support with your Rankvia website/domain, selected Search Console property, exact visible error message, a screenshot of Settings → Integrations, and the approximate time the issue occurred.
Do not send passwords, Google access tokens, refresh tokens, cookies, or other authentication secrets.
