Connect WordPress to Rankvia
Connect the WordPress site associated with the website you're managing in Rankvia. The setup differs slightly between WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress.
Before you start
- The Rankvia website you want to publish for
- Appropriate access to the WordPress site
- The WordPress site that corresponds to the Rankvia website
- Any credentials required by the selected connection method
Make sure you're working with the correct Rankvia website before connecting WordPress. Publishing connections are website-specific.
1. Open Integrations
In Rankvia, open the website you want to connect and go to Settings → Integrations. In the Publishing integrations section, find WordPress and select Connect.
How Rankvia chooses the connection method
Enter the WordPress site URL and choose Continue to WordPress. Rankvia checks the site and sends you to the appropriate authorization path. You do not choose a separate connection type before this check.
WordPress.com-hosted sites, including sites with custom domains, use the WordPress.com authorization path. Other supported WordPress installations use WordPress's Application Password authorization flow.
Connect WordPress.com
WordPress.com connections use WordPress authorization. Rankvia verifies that the authorized WordPress site corresponds to the website you're connecting.
Start WordPress.com authorization
Enter the WordPress site URL in Rankvia and choose Continue to WordPress. Rankvia recognizes eligible WordPress.com sites and opens the WordPress.com authorization flow.
Sign in to WordPress.com
Sign in with the WordPress.com account that has access to the site you want Rankvia to publish to.
If your account manages multiple sites, make sure you're authorizing the site associated with this Rankvia website.
Approve access
Review the WordPress authorization request and continue. Rankvia requests the access needed for its supported WordPress publishing and media workflows.
Return to Rankvia
After authorization, WordPress redirects you back to Rankvia. Rankvia verifies the authorized WordPress destination for the current website.
Confirm the connected site
WordPress should now show as Connected in Settings → Integrations for the current Rankvia website, together with the connected site domain.
WordPress.com sites with a custom domain
A WordPress.com-hosted site can use a custom domain instead of a wordpress.com address. Connect the WordPress.com site associated with the website you're managing.
Connect self-hosted WordPress
Self-hosted WordPress uses the WordPress site's native Application Password authorization flow. Rankvia first validates the site URL, then WordPress asks you to authorize Rankvia.
Confirm the WordPress site
Enter the URL for the WordPress installation you want Rankvia to publish to. If WordPress is installed on a blog subdomain or subdirectory, use that WordPress site URL.
Open the WordPress authorization screen
Choose Continue to WordPress. Rankvia validates the WordPress site and opens its authorization screen when the site supports the required publishing connection.
Create an Application Password
In the WordPress authorization screen, create an Application Password for Rankvia and approve the connection. Use an Application Password - not your normal WordPress password.
Rankvia does not present separate username or Application Password fields. WordPress handles this authorization in its own native flow.
Allow WordPress to finish authorization
Complete the WordPress authorization screen and return to Rankvia. Rankvia checks that the site is reachable and ready for the supported publishing workflow.
Confirm the connected site
WordPress should now show as Connected in Settings → Integrations for the current Rankvia website, together with the connected site domain.
Verify the connection
Return to Settings → Integrations and confirm that WordPress shows as connected for the Rankvia website you're working with.
- Connected status
- Expected website or domain
- Correct WordPress destination
- No connection warning
If the wrong site is connected, disconnect it and reconnect the intended site before publishing.
Connection does not automatically enable unattended publishing
Connecting WordPress makes the site available as a publishing destination. Your publishing settings determine whether pages wait for review or can publish automatically.
What happens next
Reconnect or change the WordPress connection
If you need to change credentials, authorize another WordPress.com site, or reconnect the integration, return to Settings → Integrations. Confirm the intended WordPress site again after reconnecting.
Common connection problems
WordPress.com authorized the wrong site
Reconnect using the WordPress.com account and site associated with the Rankvia website.
WordPress.com returns to Rankvia but still isn't connected
Review the troubleshooting guide for authorization or site-verification issues.
The WordPress authorization screen rejects access
Confirm you are using an account that can authorize publishing for the intended WordPress site, then try again.
Rankvia cannot detect the WordPress site
Confirm the WordPress site URL is correct and that the installation can be reached.
Publishing or media later fails
A valid connection does not necessarily mean every publishing capability is available. Review the exact error in the troubleshooting guide.
Expected result
- WordPress shows as Connected for the current Rankvia website.
- Rankvia is connected to the intended WordPress destination.
- The site is available for supported publishing workflows.
- Your configured review-first or automatic publishing behavior determines what happens next.
