Where Rankvia publishes

Rankvia publishes supported content to the Shopify store associated with the current Rankvia website. Shopify articles are sent to the selected Shopify blog. Shopify pages are published as pages and do not use a blog.

How article content is transferred

Rankvia sends the finished article body in the format Shopify accepts for articles. Headings, paragraphs, lists, links, emphasis, and other supported article structure are included in the transferred body. Review the resulting Shopify article if it uses formatting that Shopify presents differently.

Links already included in the generated content transfer as part of the article body. Rankvia does not turn Shopify publishing into a separate internal-linking workflow or rewrite unrelated store links.

Article URL and handle

Rankvia sends the content slug as the Shopify article or page handle. Shopify validates the resulting handle. After publishing, Rankvia uses the returned Shopify handle and the connected store domain to record the resulting location when it is available.

If Shopify cannot accept the selected handle, correct the publishing details before trying again instead of assuming a different URL was created.

Shopify blog selection

Choose a Shopify blog for each article publication. A store can have multiple blogs, and the selected blog is part of the article destination. For automatic publishing, set a default Shopify blog first; if that saved blog is no longer available, automatic article publishing waits until you choose an available one.

Shopify pages do not require a blog selection.

Draft and live publishing

A Shopify draft is a successful Shopify publication event. It is not an unsubmitted Rankvia article.

Featured images

A Shopify article can publish without a featured image. When a featured image is included, Rankvia sends the image and its alt text with the article. Shopify pages do not use an article featured image.

For automatic publishing, Rankvia waits when a required image is still preparing. If Shopify cannot attach an included image, Rankvia does not treat the publication as fully verified.

SEO metadata

When an SEO title or meta description is provided, Rankvia saves them to Shopify's supported SEO fields after the article or page is created or updated.

What you’ll see while publishing

Rankvia records the publishing progress and only marks the Shopify publication successful after the supported content, selected destination, requested visibility, and included image when applicable have been verified. If a required image is still preparing for automatic publishing, the content remains waiting for that asset.

What Rankvia records

After publication, Rankvia keeps the Shopify association for the content, including the destination, draft or live state, resulting location when available, and publication status. This lets the content remain recognizable when you return to it or the Content Calendar.

How publishing appears in the Content Calendar

Once Rankvia sends content to Shopify, that Shopify publication remains associated with the content item. Content not sent to Shopify, content sent as a draft, and content made publicly live are distinct outcomes; a draft is not treated as an unsubmitted item.

What happens if you publish the article again

Rankvia detects the existing Shopify publication and uses it to update the same Shopify article or page rather than creating a duplicate. The content type cannot change after a Shopify publication exists.

If you edit the article in Shopify

Changes made directly in Shopify are not automatically copied back into the Rankvia content. Before an update, Rankvia checks the existing Shopify publication for changes. If it detects a Shopify-side change, review the conflict in Rankvia before allowing an update so the edit is not overwritten unexpectedly.

If you edit the content in Rankvia after publishing

Editing content in Rankvia does not automatically update Shopify. Publish the content again when you want the change sent to Shopify; Rankvia updates the associated Shopify article or page rather than creating another one.

What automatic publishing sends

Automatic publishing uses the same supported Shopify field mapping as manual publishing. It uses the configured Shopify destination and default blog for articles, waits for required image assets, and records the resulting Shopify state. Scheduled content alone does not enable automatic publishing.

Current Shopify publishing limitations

• Rankvia publishes supported Shopify articles and pages; it does not publish product or collection descriptions.
• Publishing does not edit themes, navigation, inventory, customers, or orders.
• Shopify edits do not automatically synchronize back to Rankvia.
• Article featured images are supported; Shopify pages do not use an article featured image.

Expected result

• Content exists in the intended Shopify destination
• Title and body match the Rankvia content
• Featured image is present when included
• The selected draft or live state is correct
• Rankvia records the Shopify publication
• The association remains visible after returning to the content or Calendar
• The final Shopify location is available when supported
