Uninstall and reinstall Rankvia for Shopify
Uninstalling the Rankvia Shopify app ends the active Shopify app connection for that store. It does not automatically mean your existing Rankvia work or content already published to Shopify disappears.
If you reinstall Rankvia later, use the same Shopify store and existing Rankvia account where possible so Rankvia can recover the correct store, website, and subscription context.
| After uninstalling | What happens |
|---|---|
| Shopify app connection | The active app connection ends and the installation becomes unavailable for Shopify actions. |
| Publishing to Shopify | New Shopify publishing and blog discovery stop until the connection is restored. |
| Articles and drafts already in Shopify | They remain in the Shopify store, including their existing publication state. |
| Rankvia account and work | Rankvia-created work is not deleted by uninstalling the Shopify app. |
| Subscription | Verify the Shopify-managed subscription separately; app connection and billing are distinct lifecycles. |
| Reinstalling | Use the same store and account to reconnect the existing website context before creating anything new. |
What happens when you uninstall Rankvia
Once the installation is no longer active, Rankvia cannot continue using that Shopify connection for supported Shopify-specific actions such as publishing and blog discovery. The app's active authorization is removed as part of the uninstall lifecycle.
Publishing to Shopify stops
New content
New Shopify publishing actions cannot continue until the Shopify connection is restored.
Content already in Shopify
Articles already created in Shopify remain in the store after Rankvia is uninstalled. This includes live articles, drafts, their existing images, and their Shopify URLs. Rankvia does not remove those Shopify resources during an uninstall.
A Shopify draft already exists in Shopify. Uninstalling Rankvia does not turn it back into a Rankvia-only article. Sent to Shopify as draft does not mean not sent to Shopify.
What happens to your Shopify-managed Rankvia subscription
Shopify app connection and Shopify-managed billing are separate. Rankvia's uninstall lifecycle disconnects the app and publishing authorization; it does not itself choose a new billing provider or create a direct subscription. Check the plan and subscription state shown through Shopify and Rankvia after uninstalling, especially before reinstalling or buying another plan.
Learn about Shopify plans and billingCanceling the subscription and uninstalling the app are different
Cancel subscription
Changes the subscription and billing lifecycle for the store.
Uninstall app
Removes the active Shopify app relationship and future Shopify publishing access.
If your goal is only to change or stop your Rankvia plan, review the plan and billing controls rather than treating uninstall as the default billing action.
What happens to your Rankvia work
Uninstalling the Shopify app does not delete Rankvia-owned work. Your Rankvia account, website analysis, Business Profile, Content Calendar, Page Plans, generated content, and workspace remain governed by the current account and retention rules.
Retained for reconnecting
Disconnected store association and Shopify publication context are retained to make a normal reinstall safer.
Publication history
Rankvia retains publication context so a reconnected store can preserve the relationship to prior Shopify articles and drafts.
Reinstall Rankvia for the same Shopify store
When possible, recover the existing Shopify store-to-Rankvia website relationship rather than starting a new Rankvia website for the same store.
What to verify after reinstalling
Store and website
Confirm the same Shopify store, the intended Rankvia website, and an active Shopify connection.
Plan and billing provider
Check the current plan, any upcoming plan, cancellation state, and whether Shopify is still expected to manage billing.
Publishing destination
Check that the intended Shopify blog is available. If a prior default blog no longer exists, choose a valid blog before the next article.
Existing publications
Before republishing older content, check Shopify and the Rankvia publication state to avoid creating an unwanted duplicate.
If you install Rankvia on a different Shopify store
A different Shopify store is a different store context. It should not automatically reuse the first store's website, publishing destination, or subscription. Confirm the intended Rankvia website and billing state for each store before proceeding.
Restore Shopify publishing after reinstalling
Before Shopify publishing resumes, confirm the current installation is active, the correct Rankvia website is associated, the intended Shopify blog is available, and the current draft/live and automatic-publishing settings are correct for the reconnected store.
