Publish reviewed content to Shopify

Use this reference when your Rankvia article is ready for a Shopify destination. Review First keeps a human publication decision; optional automatic publication has separate eligibility and setup requirements. A finished article is not proof that anything is already live.

Before opening the publishing dialog

Use the Shopify store associated with the current Rankvia website and an eligible, healthy publishing connection. The connection must have effective content read and write permissions. If Rankvia requests renewed authorization, use the connection recovery action; a connection alone does not bypass access or plan eligibility.

Review and save the article, including its facts, product links, language, title, slug and metadata. Confirm image rights and alt text. Shopify articles require an available blog. Use the blog selector to choose one, or its supported create-blog option if you need a new blog. Shopify pages do not use a blog.

Publishing setup is separate from acquisition and billing. A website preview does not connect Shopify or publish an article. Shopify app installation and a Shopify-managed subscription have their own setup; connecting a publishing destination does not mean every Rankvia website uses Shopify billing.

Worked example: review, send and verify

  1. 1. Review the finished article

Check that the answer helps the intended buyer and that product attributes are accurate. Save your edits before publishing. For Northtrail, remove any unsupported weather-resistance claim and verify the backpack links. Keep publishing language and target market consistent with the approved business context.

  2. 2. Confirm store and destination

Open the Shopify publishing dialog and check the displayed store name and domain. Choose an article for this educational post, then select Field Notes. A standalone Shopify page is a different destination. An existing publication keeps its content type and associated blog rather than becoming another article elsewhere.

  3. 3. Choose visibility and image

Choose Shopify draft for a storefront review before going live, or live publication when ready. For an article with an available generated image and image access, the dialog offers an include-image choice. Review its alt text. Pages do not have an article featured image.

  4. 4. Publish and inspect the recorded result

Submit once and wait for the result. Rankvia verifies the supported transfer before recording success. A Shopify draft already exists in Shopify but is not public. Check the destination, state and resulting location rather than treating a success indicator as proof of a live public URL.

  5. 5. Check the Shopify page

Open the resulting location when available. For a live article, check the public page while signed out: title, body, links, image, mobile layout and selected visibility. Check SEO fields in Shopify where they are not visible on the page. Storefront or theme presentation can differ from the Rankvia editor. For a draft, review in Shopify and verify again after it becomes public.

What Rankvia sends to Shopify

RankviaShopify destinationVerified scope
Title and bodyArticle or pageThe finished title and supported body structure are transferred, including headings, lists, links and emphasis. Review theme-specific formatting.
SlugHandleThe content slug is sent as the handle. Shopify validates it; Rankvia records the returned handle and location when available.
Selected blogArticle blogRequired for articles. Pages do not use a blog; automatic articles require an available saved default blog.
Featured image and alt textArticle imageIncluded when selected and ready. An article can be published without an image; pages do not use an article image.
SEO title and meta descriptionSupported SEO fieldsWhen provided, these are saved after article or page creation or update.
Publication choiceDraft or live stateRankvia verifies the requested state and records the publication association.

Draft, live and Calendar status

A Shopify draft is a successful transfer, not an unsubmitted Rankvia article. Draft and live content both exist in Shopify; only live content is intended to be publicly accessible according to store configuration. Rankvia keeps the Shopify destination, state and location when available, so returning to the article or Content Calendar retains the association.

Image readiness and publication verification

When an image is included, its transfer and the relevant content, destination and visibility are part of verification. Automatic publication waits for a required image still preparing. If an included image cannot be attached or another verification fails, inspect the saved result before retrying; a remote article may already exist.

Updating an existing publication

Publishing the associated content again updates the same Shopify article or page rather than creating another one. Its content type cannot change after publication. Editing Rankvia content alone does not send the update to Shopify.

Shopify edits do not automatically synchronize back into Rankvia. Before updating, Rankvia checks the remote publication for changes. If a conflict appears, compare the versions and deliberately approve an update only after deciding which edits to preserve. Do not force an overwrite simply to clear an error.

Optional automatic publication

Automatic publication is conditional: explicitly enable the supported automatic mode for eligible work, with the correct connected destination. Articles need an available default Shopify blog and required image assets must be ready. Scheduling a topic alone does not enable publication. Automatic mode uses the same supported field mapping and records the resulting Shopify state; choose Review First when a person should decide what is published.

Current boundaries

Rankvia publishes supported Shopify articles and pages, not product or collection descriptions. Publishing does not edit themes, navigation, inventory, customers or orders. Links already prepared in the body transfer with it; publication does not rewrite unrelated store links. Review factual accuracy and storefront presentation yourself.

If publication does not complete

Missing authorization
Follow the reconnect action when authorization has expired or a required permission is missing. If permissions are present but Shopify rejects an operation, use the reported support action rather than repeatedly reconnecting.
Missing blog or image
Choose an available article blog; repair the saved default blog for automatic articles. Wait for a required image or review the image selection. Pages need no blog.
Transient failure or incomplete verification
Read the error and inspect any recorded Shopify association first. Follow Retry or Update Shopify as offered; the correct recovery depends on whether a remote object already exists. Do not create a second content item to work around an uncertain result.
Unexpected remote changes
Review the Shopify conflict before approving an overwrite. For an unresolved mismatch, contact support with the content reference and error, without credentials.

Publication review checklist

  • Correct store and blog or page destination
  • Reviewed title, body, links and metadata
  • Image and alt text correct when included
  • Draft or live state matches the intended choice
  • Recorded Shopify association persists on return
  • Live page checked separately from transfer success
